Praying for a sign - Berg/COLB update

The Cult of the COLB are waiting for the "Great White Hope" to come save them from the terror of Obama actually assuming the office the American people elected him to. Donofrio's case is now officially in the "discard" pile, but the cultists have rallied behind Wrotnowski's as their next "Great White Hope"

5 December - Salon Magazine posts an article about "Why the stories about Obama's birth certificate will never die"

"But according to several experts in conspiracy theories, and in the psychology of people who believe in conspiracy theories, there's little chance those people who think Obama is barred from the presidency will ever be convinced otherwise. "There's no amount of evidence or data that will change somebody's mind," says Michael Shermer, who is the publisher of Skeptic magazine and a columnist for Scientific American, and who holds an undergraduate and a master's degree in psychology. "The more data you present a person, the more they doubt it ... Once you're committed, especially behaviorally committed or financially committed, the more impossible it becomes to change your mind."

Any inconvenient facts are irrelevant. People who believe in a conspiracy theory "develop a selective perception, their mind refuses to accept contrary evidence," Chip Berlet, a senior analyst with Political Research Associates who studies such theories, says. "As soon as you criticize a conspiracy theory, you become part of the conspiracy."

Evan Harrington, a social psychologist who is an associate professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, agrees. "One of the tendencies of the conspiracy notion, the whole appeal, is that a lot of the information the believer has is secret or special," Harrington says. "The real evidence is out there, [and] you can give them all this evidence, but they'll have convenient ways to discredit [it]."

Whatever can't be ignored can be twisted to fit into the narrative; every new disclosure of something that should, by rights, end the controversy only opens up new questions, identifies new plotters. Perhaps the most common argument of those questioning Obama's eligibility is that he should just release his full, original birth certificate, rather than the shorter certification, which is a copy. His failure to do so only proves there is reason to be suspicious, they say, and if the document was released, the issue would go away. But that's unlikely. It was, after all, the Obama campaign's release of the certification this summer that stoked the fever of conspiracy mongers."

And I particularly like how they sum up the cast of characters in the cult:

"Not surprisingly, almost all of the people who've been most prominent in pushing this story have a history of conspiracist thought. There's Jerome Corsi, who's best known as the co-author of the book that launched the Swift boat vets; he's a chief proponent of the claim that the government is secretly planning to form a "North American Union" with Canada and Mexico. Philip Berg, who filed the lawsuit that had until now drawn the most public attention, is a 9/11 Truther. Andy Martin, who's credited with starting the myth that Obama is a Muslim and has been intimately involved in the birth certificate mess as well, was denied admission to the Illinois bar because of a psychiatric evaluation that showed he had "moderately severe character defect manifested by well-documented ideation with a paranoid flavor and a grandiose character." He also has a long history of anti-Semitism. Robert Schulz, who's responsible for the ads in the Tribune, is a fairly notorious tax protester. In 2007, a federal judge ordered Schulz to shutter his Web site because he and his organization were, in the words of the Justice Department's Tax Division, using the site to promote "a nationwide tax-fraud scheme."

I have to give a tip of the hat to this letter writer though.

"@spork_incident

Explain the birth announcement in the 13 August, 1961 edition of the Honolulu Advertiser.
That's easy.

The birth of Obama was prophesied both in the Book of Revelation as well as several books channeled from enlightened masters from Atlantis. This enabled the Illuminati to anticipate this and buy the Honolulu Advertiser back in the spring of 1961, with some helpful funding provided by the Gray Aliens. Together, the Grays and the Illuminati provided the initial cover for this conspiracy. However, in 1963 they parted ways, unable to agree on how to handle the JFK assasination. Nowadays, the Advertiser is a shadow of its formal self, run by a long lost descendant of the Knights Templar who is a complete alcoholic.

Next question?

(Applauds in delight)

5 December - The "We The People Tax Cheats" whine about the bad press their full page ad got in the media. The bad press might be because most people see it for the utter crap it is, but that minor little detail seems to have escaped the tax cheats....

6 December - And Dr. Orly Taitz, DDS, Esc., crows with delight over the California Superior Court rejecting Lightfoot v. Bowen. Why? Because it lets her appeal it to the Supreme Court faster!! *FACEPLANT*

"I wanted to thank the Justices of the Supreme Court of California and Chief Justice Ronald M. George for acting so expediently.Within two days the Justices have reviewed the case and entered their disposition on it today, on Friday night, at 9:53 PM. They have denied on my pleadings, which gives me an opportunity to file immediately in the Supreme Court of the United States. Supreme Court Justice assigned to our ninth circuit (includes CA) is an Honorable Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. "

You have to know by now the SCOTUS is starting to go "Oh, not this shit again??"

6 December - The Washington Times is reporting that the SCOTUS is delaying action on Donofrio's case.

"Legal scholars doubt the court will hear the case. The Supreme Court rarely grants the kind of court orders -- or stays -- sought by Mr. Donofrio. And doing so in this case would set up an unprecedented challenge to the presidency of a man who already has won the election and almost certainly will have taken office by the time any hearings or decisions could occur.

About a half-dozen people who say the court should stop Mr. Obama from becoming president protested in front of the Supreme Court on Friday morning."

The comments are kinda special.....

The Obama Zombies seem quite pleased with this because they themselves have sold their souls to this charlatan Obama or whatever the hell his name really is. He is the mystery man of the New World Order. He is far more secretive than his equally incompetent predecessor GW Bush. He appears to have been groomed for this role by the elite for many years. If we can ever get them to release his college info we will see what this student of Bzrezinski has been hiding from us. They should take him to court for that info to be released to. Let the court proceedings begin.

This is the "Anchor baby" issue, are foreign nationals within the US under US jurisdiction and eligible for birthright citizenship?

Before you say yes, be sure you understand it will allow birthright citizenship by adverse posession to the global community and guarantee continuous criminal foreign invasion of America forever or until America becomes the least desirable place on the planet, America by law wll become the global lowest common denominator.

The Supremes will not touch this issue, they have no spine, they've managed to avoid this issue for decades, now they're stuck with the wreckage, one of the Anchor babies is running for President and the immigrant mob of Socialist voters is bigger than the non-immigrant mob.

To all the Obama supporters who don't care about the Constitution, I have a new Pledge of Allegiance for you:

"I pledge allegiance to the President of the Blue States of America, and to Socialism, for which he stands, one Obamanation, under Democrats, indiscriminate, with poverty and abortion for all."

Somebody made a video of you voting on election day: http://www.howobamagotelected.com/

6 December - And a disgruntled cultist over at "Democratic-Disasters.com" posts the reply she got from an Obama elector. Which I am going to repost exactly.

Mr. Wayne Abraham of the 6th Congressional District of North Carolina, I would like to shake your hand and extend to you an offer of three dozen homemade cookies of your choice. Thank you for such a wonderful reply to these people!

"December 6, 2008

I have been asked by some concerned citizens as part of my Constitutional responsibility as a member of the College of Electors to review the evidence and make a determination regarding the natural born citizenship of Barack Hussein Obama II, or to join in a lawsuit against him in this matter. They have also forwarded a great deal of information to me which I have now reviewed.

After reading this information it is my opinion that none of it is conclusive in its own right. Most of it is speculation, rumor, or opinion rendered by "experts" or others whose qualifications and motives are suspect. However, given the volume of information put forth, the question of Mr. Obama's natural born citizenship was worth my understanding.

Since the United States Supreme Court has not rendered an opinion regarding the validity of the "natural born" status of a U.S. citizen or otherwise defined this term, I am therefore at liberty to make my own determination as a Presidential Elector. In my opinion a person is a natural born citizen if he or she is granted citizenship either at birth or at the age of majority by the United States government. And has never been required by the United States government to become "naturalized" or take the oath of citizenship. This seems to me to be a straightforward and logical understanding of the term. If you are presumed to be a U.S. citizen at your birth, and no government entity says otherwise, then in fact you are.

If someone emigrates from another country to the United States, and wishes to become a citizen, that person must enter a legal process culminating in taking the oath of citizenship and being "naturalized." This is why for example the current Governor of California cannot claim "natural born" status and become the President of the United States. He was born an Austrian. He emigrated here. He sought citizenship. And he was "naturalized" in a ceremony conducted by United States officials.

And there is also in the United States the use of Common Law as a part of our judicial system. Most of the time the law is codified by us, but in fact there are traditions and understandings which have not always been codified. My point here is that for example if you have a right of way from your property across another person's property to a road, that person after a specified period of time (dependent upon a particular state's statutes) cannot suddenly decide that you cannot cross his property anymore to get to the road. It is presumed after a certain period of time that this right of way is a right that you retain since he did not protest your crossing his property for years.

These are the two bases upon which I have rendered my decision. Even if some or all of the scenarios to which these concerned citizens have pointed regarding Mr. Obama's citizenship are true, two facts remain. The United States government has never required Mr. Obama to take the oath of citizenship, or even to render a decision at the age of majority between having U.S. citizenship and Kenyan citizenship, or U.S. citizenship and Indonesian citizenship. And he has lived here and been reared and educated as a U.S. citizen. It would seem to me that 47 years is a sufficient amount of time to have lived here as a U.S. citizen, with no government entity challenging it, for us and for Mr. Obama to presume that he is a natural born U.S. citizen.

Whether through clerical error, or bureaucratic malfeasance, or simply because it is actually true as was stated on October 31, 2008 by the Director of the Health Department for the State of Hawaii, that he was in fact born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Barack Hussein Obama II has been presumed by the United States government itself to be a natural born citizen of the United States for 47 years.

It issued him a Social Security number and a passport, obviously accepting his Hawaiian birth certificate without requiring a team of forensic scientists to examine it. He has lived in the United States as a U.S. citizen for his entire adult life. He has been not only a de facto U.S. citizen, he has been a de jure U.S. citizen. A citizenship conferred upon him by the United States government at his birth, and never questioned by any court, or executive branch official for 47 years. The United States government itself accepted his natural born citizenship when it issued him a passport without requiring him to take the oath of citizenship in a ceremony like all other immigrants to this country.

Therefore, as the Presidential Elector for the 6th Congressional District of North Carolina it is my Constitutional determination that Barack Hussein Obama II is a natural born citizen of the United States, and is qualified to become the 44th President of the United States of America. I will cast my Electoral College vote accordingly on December 15, 2008.

Sincerely,

Wayne Abraham"

Bravo Mr. Abraham, bravo!

6 December - Like a bad tooth, Dr. Orly Taitz comes back, penning a diatribe that, no really, the Hawaiian State Health Department didn't really confirm Obama's birth certificate....

"Of course, as most people should know by now, you can have a valid Hawaiian certificate of live birth, either short or long form, and still be born outside of Hawaii or even the US. After all, there is even a space for registering foreign births on the form, a box "7C". And the Hawaiian Health Department, as far as we have been able to determine, has never issued a statement about what is in box 7C of Obama's certificate of live birth. All that Fukino stated is that "Hawai'i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures." Which to be honest, is somewhat vague and is not really the information that is being sought."

As a dentist AND a lawyer, Dr. Taitz should know very well that Bad Things Happen to health officials that violate HIPPA and privacy laws. But it seems Dr. Taitz doesn't believe the same laws that protect her patient's privacy should protect Obama's. ORLY???

6 December - And ignoring the fact that she's on shakier ground than her patient's bridgework, Dr. Orly Taitz whines about the evil big bad media and their bias. Because they dared to miscount the Million Moron March on 5 December at the Supreme Court.

"Here is an interesting example. On December 6, 2008, the "right wing" Washington Times featured an article by Tom Ramstack, who wrote about the Donofrio case in an article entitled "Decision on Obama citizenship pending". Ramstacked claimed that there was a "protest" of about 6 people outside the Supreme Court on December 5, 2008. Here are some pictures of this vigil. I do not know about you, but it sure looks like more than 6 people to me. Did Ramstack arrive late, after everyone had already left? Did Ramstack arrive too early before people had congregated? Does Ramstack have trouble counting? I just do not know what to think."

I think that while there were more than six, I think you're fooling yourself (again!) Dr. Taitz if you think that was a huge protest. Because the most people I count in ANY of the pictures you site are about 32. You should be able to count up to that number, it IS, after all, the same as the number of teeth in an adult human's mouth........

7 December - The Chicago Tribune comments on the wackadoodle brigade in an article named "Virulent Barack Obama opponents won't go away"

"Those who spent most of the 1990s seething that Bill and Hillary Clinton were serial murderers and who devoted the entire 2008 campaign cycle to painting Obama as a mysterious radical aren't relaxing during the transition.

Much of their energy these days is devoted to the effort to block Obama from assuming the presidency on the grounds that he's not a "natural-born citizen" of the United States, as the Constitution requires.

Their hopes rest on several false and farfetched propositions. And they rely, in the end, on either the Supreme Court or Congress being willing to create political chaos during already very frightening and perilous times based on various idiosyncratic interpretations of constitutional language and other statutes.

The Tribune has explained the error of their ways in several stories, and after I added an approving "me too" at Change of Subject last week, I was flooded with furious and patronizing e-mail from all over the country.

Many of these zealots claim to be mere defenders of the Constitution. But poke them, as I did in some instances, and out rushes the gassy blast of Bill-Ayers-Reverend-Wright-Tony-Rezko-Rashid-Khalidi-Occidental-College-Records and other points of concern that did not, to their dismay, turn the electorate against Obama."

7 December - Political discusses "Whisper campaign persists despite election".:

"I think there are just a lot of people who just want to believe it," said Paul Waldman, who has studied the conspiracy theories over Obama's citizenship for Media Matters.

Waldman said that like with the claims that the Clintons killed White House Counsel Vince Foster, a certain segment of the population will continue to believe Obama won on illegitimate grounds no matter how often the claim is disproved.

"When something gets refuted there a certain number of people that just won't believe it," he said. "If they are predisposed to believe it, refuting it will have no impact."

Something caught my eye though - the acknowledgement that yes indeed, the cult of the COLB IS working together:

"Each week a small group of people running websites and blogs dedicated to the story participate in a conference call to discuss the latest news and how to advance the story. Between 5 and 10 people call in, most of whom know little about each other except for their shared interest in Obama's citizenship.

One of the frequent participants in the conference calls is Bob Schultz, who heads the "We the People Foundation" which has raised tens of thousands of dollars raising questions about Obama's background and promoting Berg's legal action with full-page ads in the Washington Times, Chicago Tribune and the conservative newspaper Human Events. The group is now eyeing buys in the New York Post and USA Today.

Schultz's Web site, which had previously been dedicated to promoting Rep. Ron Paul's (R-Texas) insurgent presidential campaign, hosts an array of documents and web videos offering conflicting arguments - that Obama was born outside of the United States, or that he lost his citizenship upon moving to Indonesia with his mother and step father and then must have re-entered the United States illegally.

The claim has reverberated in conservative media outlets, especially talk radio. According to Media Matters, conservative radio hosts Michael Savage, Brian Sussman, Lars Larson, Bob Grant, Jim Quinn, Rose Tennent and Mark Davis (who was guest-hosting for Rush Limbaugh) have all repeated the widely discredited claim.

"We're getting ready for the Communist takeover of America with a noncitizen at the helm - I love it," Savage said during an episode of his nationally syndicated radio show "Savage Nation."

"He won't even produce a birth certificate. Don't you love that?" he continued. "Something as basic as Obama's birth certificate now is an issue. I mean, if he's got nothing to hide, show it to me. Doesn't exist. It does not exist. They can't find it in the Hawaii government. It's never been produced. The one that was produced is a forgery."

It ends with this line: "Waldman, though, doubts the skeptics can be convinced, no matter what evidence is produced. "There is nothing much you can do to reach these people," Waldman said. "No matter how many times you tell them the truth they will continue to believe this.""

As I've said before, they believe because they want to believe it.

7 December - Dr, Orly Taitz, DDS, Esq., posts the "Final Petition for Writ of Mandate" in her and Gary Kreep's Keyes v. Bowen lawsuit.

PDF here

The lawsuit names every single California elector to it. It's still 99% a Berg clone though.

8 December - Supreme Court to Leo Donofrio: "No". (PDF here)

"08A407
DONOFRIO, LEO C. V. WELLS, NJ SEC. OF STATE
The application for stay addressed to Justice Thomas and
referred to the Court is denied."

8 December - MSNBC reports on Donofrio being rejected by SCOTUS.

"The court did not comment on its order Monday rejecting the call by Leo Donofrio of East Brunswick, N.J., to intervene in the presidential election. Donofrio says that since Obama had dual nationality at birth — his mother was American and his Kenyan father at the time was a British subject — he cannot possibly be a "natural born citizen," one of the requirements the Constitution lists for eligibility to be president.

Donofrio also contends that two other candidates, Republican John McCain and Socialist Workers candidate Roger Calero, also are not natural-born citizens and thus ineligible to be president.

At least one other appeal over Obama's citizenship remains at the court. Philip J. Berg of Lafayette Hill, Pa., argues that Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii as Obama says and the Hawaii secretary of state has confirmed. Berg says Obama also may be a citizen of Indonesia, where he lived as a boy. Federal courts in Pennsylvania have dismissed Berg's lawsuit."

8 December - Leo Donofrio takes his rejection moderately well, putting the blame on the lower courts and their handling of it, rather than the obvious - it was pointless. He then urges the faithful to rally behind Wrotnowski's appeal.

"I did file a direct appeal under the proper NJ Court rules, but the lower Court judge refused to acknowledge that and if his fraudulent docketing was used by SCOTUS they would have a solid procedural basis to throw mine out.

I don’t know if it’s significant that Cort’s case was not denied at the same time as mine. His case argues the same exact theory - that Obama is not a natural born citizen because he was a British citizen at birth.

All eyes should now be closely watching US Supreme Court Docket No. 08A469, Wrotnowski v. Bysiewicz.

If Cort’s application is also denied then the fat lady can sing. Until then, the same exact issue is before SCOTUS as was in my case. Cort’s application before SCOTUS incorporates all of the arguments and law in mine, but we improved on the arguments in Cort’s quite a bit as we had more time to prepare it."

The pitiful things are the comments, with people claiming "Well, maybe it was just the stay that was rejected and not the writ" because the docket hasn't been updated yet. Hope springs eternal......

8 December - Berg's website posts a YouTube video of the supposed interview with Sarah Obama, Obama's step-grandmother. It's missing, of course, the section where the translators declare repeatedly he was born in Hawaii.......

What, Berg lie?

Oh, the sound file with the full interview, (including where the translators insist he was born in Hawaii) is at http://s16v.com/americasright/8167169.wma

8 December - And the next great shining hope, Wrotnowski v. Bysiewicz, gets moved by Justice Scalia to conference on friday, 12 December.

"No. 08A469
Title: Cort Wrotnowski, Applicant
v.
Susan Bysiewicz, Connecticut Secretary of State

Docketed:
Lower Ct: Supreme Court of Connecticut
Case Nos.: (SC 18264)

~~~Date~~~ ~~~~~~~Proceedings and Orders~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nov 25 2008 Application (08A469) for stay and/or injunction, submitted to Justice Ginsburg.
Nov 26 2008 Application (08A469) denied by Justice Ginsburg.
Nov 29 2008 Application (08A469) refiled and submitted to Justice Scalia.
Dec 8 2008 DISTRIBUTED for Conference of December 12, 2008.
Dec 8 2008 Application (08A469) referred to the Court by Justice Scalia."
Since this is a clone of Donofrio's, I'm suspecting its chances are pretty much nil too. I suspect that
8 December - Missed this one from my neck of the woods last friday (5 Dec). The second Washington State Case, Broe v. Reed, is in King County Washington. Case #8-2-473-8.
Broe v. Reed Summons PDF
Petition for Writ of Mandamus PDF
Applicaton for Writ of Mandamus PDF
Some of the complaint pulls from Berg, with the following novel complaints:
1) He didn't run under his "real" name - Barry Soetoro
2) He only produced a "Certification of Live Birth", not a "Certificate Of Live Birth"
8 December - I kinda get the feeling that Jeff Schreiber at "America's Right" is starting to seriously question the people involved in the Cult of the COLB. This after the "We The People Tax Cheats" shindig at the National Press Club.
"During this election, the media in the United States of America was worse than the media in communist Russia. The anchormen and anchorwomen were reading from the same script. They might have had different haircuts and they might have had different outfits, but they were reading from the same script. The only reason that the vast majority of Americans do not know the details [of these cases] is because the media was aiding and abetting Obama in defrauding 300 million Americans."
-- Orly Taitz, attorney, who was born in Chechnya
"I pray, Lord, that we can overcome the wickedness which has overtaken our politicians, the media, and even in our court systemsat the highest level, and that this long-legged mack-daddy would not be allowed to take the oath on the 20th of January."
-- Rev. James David Manning, an African-American pastor from Harlem, NY
Oh, but it wasn't that cut-and-dry. These were the more calm and collected, mainstream things which were said. We had people asking 25-minute "questions" which rambled on about everything from NAFTA to Saudi oil to John Ashcroft and the World Bank, we had Taitz herself talking about Adolf Hitler and asking why the federal government would fine the broadcasters for the Super Bowl appearance of Janet Jackson's left nipple, and we had Rev. Manning opining that Obama came to the office of president-elect through a "white womb," and that a "black womb may never produce a president."
Glad to see that Manning was at his normal fine-form. Wow indeed. And Dr. Orly Taitz, DDS, Esq., doesn't seem wrapped overly tightly.....
Schreiber ends saying:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I am not a conspiracy theorist. From August 21, 2008, when I first broke the story about Philip Berg's lawsuit against Barack Obama, I have been interesting in upholding our Constitution -- and still am. However, many of the things I saw today did little to help the movement which so many ordinary, non-tin-foil-hat-wearing Americans have put their hopes behind."
Jeff, I hate to be the one to break it to you - but the vast majority of the people who have "put their hopes behind" this movement ARE tin-foil-hat-wearing wackadoodles.
I LOVE this comment though:
"Jeff, it cannot be that the justices of the Supreme Court know less than you do, less than citizenwells and less than texasdarlin, less than Judah Benjamin and less than DrKate on texasdarlin blog. You have all gone into such legal detail, Constitutional articles and amendments, past cases, etc. I cannot believe the justices don't know any of these things. I cannot believe they don't know Obama himself said he had dual citizenship at birth...... DECEMBER 8, 2008 1:29 PM."
What funnier is the writer may not have even realized they were being funny......seriously, the idea that the Supreme Court of the United States is ignorant of the law compared to the blazing intellectual genius of "Judah Benjamin", "Dr. Kate", and all the other blogosphere "experts", is hysterical.
8 December - Anti-semite Andy Martin speaks out about "anti-Obama scam artists". I think someone is being Mr. McCrankypants because he didn't get his invitation to the "We The People Tax Cheats" big huge DC shindig.
"Over four years ago I created the anti-Obama movement by disclosing that Barack Obama was lying about his religious heritage. I went on to publish the first questions about Barack Obama’s citizenship (and forced Obama to admit I was right) as well as making a continuing series of disclosures about the man. But I am increasingly concerned that the anti-Obama movement is passing into the hands of fast buck artists such as a corrupt Philadelphia lawyer, Philip Berg, and other con artists or profiteers who do not have any legitimate basis for their inflammatory accusations against Obama."
As for his opinions of the players??
"First, Philip Berg. As near as I can tell, Berg is a scam artist and nothing more. He filed a crackpot lawsuit to collect money and, one presumes, to put the money in his pocket. I spoke with Mr. Berg before he filed his lawsuit, and advised him his claims were injurious to Obamas legitimate opponents. Berg didn’t care. He just wanted to scream—and ask for money."
(Snip)
"Second, there is a lawyer from New Jersey named Leo Donofrio. No one had ever heard of Mr. Donofrio before he popped up and also demanded to stop the 2008 election. Unlike Berg, Donofrio followed the correct legal highway, by petitioning state officials, and then working his way up through the state courts, before filing with the U. S. Supreme Court. There is no question that procedurally, Donofrio has followed the correct path.
But do Donofrio’s claims make sense? Donofrio claims Senator John McCain is not “natural born” because his father was serving in the military when the senator was born. That claim is complete nonsense. Donofrio makes a similar accusation against Obama. If Donofrio had some track record of being either a legal scholar or an recognized advocate, I would look more deeply at his claims. But Donofrio has no track record as an attorney at all. Would you listen to a “surgeon” who was making radical new surgical claims if he had no record of any medical accomplishments? Not many people would."
(Snip)
"Finally, there is Alan Keyes and his lawyers in California. I am not an admirer of Alan Keyes. He is a charlatan and huckster who carpet bagged in Illinois and appealed to some right-wing morons in the local Republican Party. Keyes helped elect Barack Obama to the Senate in 2004. In the process, Keyes administered a blow to Illinois Republicans from which they have not yet recovered. “The rest is history.”
Amusingly, Martin later says this:
"The level of paranoia that these cases are spawning, however, is exploding beyond reason. I spoke to a woman last week who seemed rational. By Friday she was accusing me of hurting Obama’s opponents by telling the truth about them. She was not the first person who told me I should accept lies if they were being spread for a good cause, namely opposition to Obama. I refuse to do so."
Not unless they're YOUR lies, eh Mr. Martin?? Me thinks someone's upset because there are other players getting the limelight in this pathetic psychodrama.
8 December - Berg posts on his website a press release about his 2 Dec request for an injunction to stop the electorial college. All the website says is "Press Release 12/08/08: U. S. Supreme Court asked to issue an injunction to stay electorial votes on December 15, 2008 until Obama proves he is "qualified" to be President as this is the largest "HOAX" in 200 years. ".
Press release PDF here
As for the press release itself, it's Berg flogging the same defunct equine he normally does, ending with:
"Obama knows he is not ‘natural born’ as he knows where he was born and he knows he was adopted in Indonesia; Obama is an attorney, Harvard Law grad who taught Constitutional law; Obama knows his candidacy is the largest ‘hoax’ attempted on the citizens of the United States in over 200 years; Obama places our Constitution in a ‘crisis’ situation; and Obama is in a situation where he can be blackmailed by leaders around the world who know Obama is not qualified.”
Here's a couple news flashes for Mr. Berg:
1) Hillary lost the primaries.
2) Obama was born in Hawaii
3) Neither he or his mom lost their US citizenship when she married Lolo Soetoro
4) You need to put on your big boy pants and get over it.
8 December - And Jeff Schreiber reports about the "We The People Tax Cheats" shindig in greater detail. And shows his disappointment with certain of the people.
"There were strong points and not-so-strong points at today's press conference, some fairly good moments and some screamingly bad ones. Both Dana Milbank at The Washington Post and Mike Madden at Salon wrote scathing accounts of the event. While I may not share the same feelings of Milbank or Madden per se, I can say that if they were my arguments to make, I would have handled things a little differently, a little more succinctly, and in a more focused manner than did the folks at the front of the room."
The "We The People Tax Cheats" plans if all this fails? A people's "Constitutional Conference"
“We’re going to ask people in all 50 states to choose three people to send to a month-long Congress—call it a Continental Congress if you’d like—to discuss these issues,” Schulz said, after about ten minutes of failing to grasp the nature of the question and exploring nearly every other topic but that which was asked. “We need to discuss our republic, and what we can do about this. This nation is heading toward a vortex of constitutional crisis, and the people must act as the final arbiters of the Constitution.”
Rev. Manning was in his usual racist form:
“We don’t know who this man is,” he said, cautioning his fellow African-Americans not to accept this fruit of a white woman as their redeemer. “He’s no Booker T. Washington, I’ll tell you that. He’s no Martin Luther King. But he does possess the potential to be the most prolific con-man in the history of this country. It is my prayer that January 20th will not happen, that Barack Hussein Obama will not be inaugurated. This man has come from the womb of a white woman.”
Dr. Orly Taitz, DDS, Esq. seems really out there, (check out her picture in Jeff's article). This comment tends to say she's got issues....
"However, the stronger aspects of her arguments and presentation were seemingly drowned out by, among other things, a disjointed and rambling indictment of the American media. She stated that the American media is owned by big companies, organizations which have extensive dealings with foreign companies. She spoke about a deal between NBC’s owner, General Electric, and Saudi oil powers, insinuating that the Saudis extended their influence through GE and NBC in order to stifle adverse coverage of Obama’s candidacy. She spoke about Adolf Hitler’s rise to power, posited that Obama had citizenship in at least four different nations, compared him with a leader of the Black Panther Party, and wondered aloud in an externalized internal monologue why the federal government would fine the broadcasters for the Super Bowl appearance of Janet Jackson's right nipple but not the mainstream press for overlooking these lawsuits and favoring Barack Obama as they did. After the end of a lengthy tangent, only after insinuating that Watergate would never have been discovered if the media then acted as it has done now and after wondering why Osama bin Laden himself doesn’t state his eligibility and run, Taitz was finally silenced and given the proverbial hook by Bob Schulz, who stood up suddenly and made his way to the microphone in an thinly-veiled attempt to move things along."
Berg was his usual self:
“Barack Obama is really a phony, and this is the largest hoax perpetrated against the United States in 200 years,” Berg said. “Obama places our Constitution in a crisis situation, and will be able to be blackmailed by other world leaders who know he is not qualified.”
As for David Schulz, the head Tax Cheat himself?
"Schulz deemed the Court’s decision on Donofrio v. Wells “the latest injury,” cited a “conspiracy of silence” with regards to the individual merits of Donofrio’s case and others, and bundled it together with the adverse decision against self-proclaimed “Internet powerhouse” and “legendary muckraker” Andy Martin in Hawaii and the dismissal of Berg’s case at the district court level in Philadelphia. He also lamented a now widely publicized e-mail response on the eligibility-related issue from Florida Sen. Mel Martinez, who responded to such an inquiry by noting that voters are responsible for vetting candidates at the presidential level and more."
9 December - The Washington Post reports on the "We The People Tax Cheats" shindig. And not very politely either:
"Ladies and gentlemen, the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is back in business. After eight years in the wilderness, its members are regrouping to combat the Obama menace. For their sake, here's hoping they can come up with better material than they presented at yesterday's news conference."
9 December - Salon also weighs in on the "We The People Tax Cheats" shindig. Also not very politely:
"Two and a half hours later, as dentist-slash-lawyer Orly Taitz harangued reporters for not investigating whether Obama's mother was actually dead, that hope had been obliterated. It was crushed by a torrent of half-baked legal theories, vague platitudes about the Constitution and sinister "facts" assembled by a collection of true believers so extreme that even Michelle Malkin wants nothing to do with them. (Let alone actual Republican operatives, who appear to realize that questioning Obama's citizenship isn't the best way to begin their journey out of the political wilderness.) Although the news conference wasn't quite over when Taitz began her harangue, it had been 15 minutes since a member of the audience compared Obama's alleged electoral fraud to how Hitler rose to power -- a sure sign it was well past time to leave.
The gist of the conspiracy theory is that Obama doesn't meet the Constitution's requirement that a president be a "natural born citizen." Somehow Obama is concealing the fact that he was either born in Kenya (or maybe Indonesia) or that he renounced his U.S. citizenship as a child. One of Taitz's fellow alarmists, Pennsylvania lawyer Phi Berg (a bipartisan conspiracist -- he believes George W. Bush was behind 9/11), said Obama is an undocumented immigrant. Most of this "evidence" is easily debunked, though it can get confusing as it gets more feverish.
At any rate, the theory goes, Obama's not fit to take office, and Taitz and Berg, along with a few followers and the main ringleader for Monday's show, anti-tax activist Bob Schultz, aim to stop him. Schultz feels so strongly about the threat Obama poses to the republic that he spent tens of thousands of dollars on full-page newspaper ads last week, and plans to hold a citizens' conference after Inauguration Day if the courts don't intervene -- just the first step, apparently, in a process that Schultz says is devoted to resisting a government that has turned lawless."
And ends the article with:
"By Jan. 20, the courts -- which have, so far, uniformly refused to treat this matter as anything other than a nuisance -- will probably have left Schultz and his friends out in the cold. But the enduring power of any conspiracy theory comes from its ability to adapt to any circumstances, and this one is no exception. The only thing legal defeats teach the anti-Obama crowd is that the judges are in on it, too. Berg has another lawsuit up his sleeve if the ones he's involved in fail, though he said he couldn't talk about it because the proceedings have been sealed. For the foreseeable future, there could be "a new lawsuit for every action Obama takes" as president, Berg said. And to think Clinton had it bad."
9 Decemeber - On the other hand, Dr. Taitz seems to be huffing her patient's sedatives, talking about how "Amazing" the "We The People Tax Cheats" shindig was.
"I raised numerous questions about the "mysteries" surrounding Barack Obama and his family, including the lack of hospital records in Hawaii for Obama and his mother. The press was dumbstruck in many cases, since they clearly are unaware of a lot of this material."
Newsflash - they're not dumbstruck because they're unaware of this material, they're amazed anyone would BELIEVE it.
9 Decemeber - And "Joe Thunder" of Freedommarch.org also talks about how amazing the "We The People Tax Cheats" shindig was:
"And it gets even better - my eyes are still crossed. I attended the most amazing press conference anyone could imagine today. The room was packed overflowing. (It was probably the same room at the National Press Club used by Rev Wright ranting on after Obama didn't want him too. I'll try and find out...Poetic isn't it?.) Philip J. Berg, Esq., Bob Shultz, Dr. Orly Taitz, Esq, and the ever lovable, Pastor James Manning, just SPANKED a room full of press with four big professional vid cams running, etc. Wow. It was hard not to cheer, and Pastor Manning got an ovation even in there!"
And lest one hopes this ends anytime soon......
"Bob Schultz telling us how he's been fighting the disassembly of the Constitution for 30 years. He'll NEVER give up.
Phil Berg telling us what's he's doing legally above and below the radar, and how he'll NEVER give up. (His brother passed away on Sat, and he's still here working hard today.)
Pastor Manning talks about Obama's influence and example on young people, and how unpopular Pastor Manning is in Harlem right now.
Dr. Orly telling us about the big name plaintiffs with standing in her newest suit going to the SCOTUS. Note: Orly escaped the former USSR in 1987. She's as motivated an individual as I have ever seen. She just blasted the MSM. My hair remains blown back. Just seeing that alone was worth the trip!
These people are Patriots."
BTW, I would like to extend my sympathies to Phillip J. Berg on the loss of his brother. I don't agree with what he's doing, but the loss of a sibling isn't something I'd wish anyone to go though.
9 December - And "America''s First" comments *again* on the "We The People Tax Cheats" shindig.
He still doesn't seem happy about it.
"The latter question, decidedly the more palatable of the two and the most difficult to spin—why pay to conceal what is not harmful?—was never posed yesterday to the gathered press by any one of the people at the front of the room. Instead, the press was given disjointed arguments about NAFTA and Adolf Hitler and the World Bank and Janet Jackson's right nipple to chew on, not to mention the characterization of Obama as a "long-legged mack-daddy" whose success is due only to his emergence from a "trashy" white woman's womb. Indeed, the underlying fundamental argument and the constitutional question at the heart of the cases at hand, while fairly plausible, likely valid, certainly engaging and undeniably important, were instead lost like a Captain Planet decoder ring at the bottom of a seemingly bottomless box of Crackerjacks."
I'm wondering if he's starting to look at the people promoting this and fighting a little voice inside going "Ye God, what a group of FREAKS!"
9 December - The Huffington Post comments on the shindig as well, or at least Salon's article on it.
"Mike Madden chronicles in Salon a day spent watching the people who believe President-Elect Barack Obama isn't a natural born citizen because of gamma rays emanating from internet porn. It's a story to be delighted in and savored. It's the incredibly true tale of "dentist-slash-lawyers" and manic-depression and multiple violations of Godwin's Law and the "press conference" they held at the National Press Club.
I mean, this is straight bonkers, y'all:"
9 December - And Yet Another Lawsuit, this one Pennsylvania, Schneller v. Cortes. Case number 199 MM 2008. It's another lawsuit trying to stop an SoS from certifying the electors in the electoral college. Based on what little is known, it seems to be a Berg clone rather than a Donofrio clone.
"If the candidate has not shown his eligibility under the Constitution, the electors should not have their votes certified, their votes should not be tallied in the traditional meeting before the Governor, nor should the certified ballots be lodged with the President of the Senate, nor the joint session of Congress early in January.
It is astounding that no official has demanded proof of this gentleman’s eligibility under what is a most simple and basic requirement for the Presidency. A bare statement by the Hawaii Health Director that they have a valid birth certificate is completely insufficient, and the fact that Senator Obama apparently has placed a doctored “certificate of live birth” on the internet, and may have falsely sworn in his candidate affidavits in thirty or more states, should put every American on notice that the Presidency may be being sought invalidly.
Under my request, the Secretary of the Commonwealth should be ordered to quickly demand proof. If Mr. Obama’s birth certificate is as he says, he has 20 days to produce it, and the Pennsylvania officials will still have 10 days to transmit the ballot to Washington.”
So here we are. The more the facts and evidence shows the cult are in the wrong, the stronger they try to dig in. It's obvious though they don't have the numbers or backing - or even the legal power - they assumed. The more defeats they're handed, the more we can expect their claims to get more and more stained and divorced from reality.
PUMA HAKA, Fuzzy.
These people depress me.
So, anyone else notice that PUMApac received a letter notifying them of their failure to file the October FEC quarterly? Fun stuff, check it out here:
http://images.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/fecimg/?C00451369
let's hope they get fined, AND investigated...fun times will be had for all!!!
fuzzybeargville - Yeah, I guess the Supreme Court shooting down the magic candy land of Donofrio's case, (making exactly NO case that's been advanced in the courts), and the wingbats on parade press conference that the "We The People Tax Cheats" threw count as "no story" then, eh?
Or is it more accurate to render your comment as "no story I want to hear", eh?
Patrick -
Great job collecting the information on the Cult of the COLB crazies, their activity and responses to same to date!
Also, smart synopsis & analysis of same!
Major Kudos to you, sir!
I knew it... Patrick is part of the conspiracy. BHO has you... you are now part of the Matrix...
;)
not a fan-
We shall see how Darragh clears the "failure to file" issue up...
I was quite amused when her "FEC" audit was ongoing. Perhaps she ought to pay attention to her own FEC issues first?
Darragh’s pack is in average far less obsessed with BC/NBC cult than some other members of the JSND coalition. The master collector of this Tinfoil-hatery is Alessandro Machi / Daily PUMA.
It seems puma pac blob is far more turend on... I mean fixated on the cardboard cutout groping issue
sunkawakan:
I am dying to see the PUMApac FEC quarterly filing. It'll be fascinating to see where all that $$ went seeing as there were no: buses, advertisements, caucus documentary...there been NO nothing to account for the supposed 40-50 thousand or more she's raised so far. And I am guessing her "web fees" were paid to her boyfirend/hubby and her "legal fees" were paid to her mom...it should certainly be interesting.
Maybe everyone should begin calling the number in the FEC letter issued to Darragh--and demanding an audit/investigation of PUMApac since they seem unwilling to file their October quarterly (it is now more than a month overdue). The number can be found in the letter issued by the FEC about the missed filing date here:
Call it an Anti-puma PROWL. ROAR!
Even better, here's the FEC contact info, straight from pumapac's own website!! How convenient for us all!
@not a fan of puma:
How on earth Darragh Murphy spent $78,100 for "Denver" (the total is from her) is one of my favorite mysteries. In her "Brief Accounting" post on September 1, she broke it down as follows:
COSTS
Travel Vouchers to help Pumas and Puma Friends get to Denver: $10,000.00
Puma PAC HQ and Blogging Center and Lodging for Pumas and Puma Friends (most slept on the floor without a kitchen) $11,000.00
Food and drink for PUMAs: $3,500.00
The Rise -Candle-light Ceremony celebrating Hillary (stage, sound, lights, etc.) $5,000.00
Printing of Signs/Banners/Flyers: $4,900.00
Ground transportation in Denver: $2,000.00
T-shirts, pins, bumper stickers, etc. $12,000.00
Shipping flyers and product to Denver: $1,200.00
Subtotal $ 49,600.00
Transportation and Filming of The Audacity of Democracy (from June through August 30th, in Texas, DC, Chicago, DC again, Denver): $17,000.00
Technical/Equipment Costs for The Audacity of Democracy: $8,000.00
Legal fees for set up and contracts $ 3,500.00
Subtotal $ 28,500.00
Grand Total: $78,100.00
Anyone who's seen the photos or videos of the PUMAs in Denver is going to be skeptical of Murphy's estimate of almost $5000 for a few small signs at "headquarters" supplemented by recycled Hillary signs and a lot of Magic Marker.
And of course she's pulled the plug on the film, but not before spending $25 to $28K, including reimbursing Brad Mays for the video equipment he lost in his checked luggage.
What irks me is her spending $1200 to ship "flyers and product" to Denver. What, she couldn't have ordered the whistles and t shirts in Denver? Oh, wait, I forgot--that would have required planning ahead a week or so.
And $5000 for that pathetic "ceremony" in Cheesman Park?
Oh well, however she spent or squandered the money, I'd just like to see the report.
http://pumapac.org/2008/09/02/a-quick-accounting/
This makes no sense......"Puma PAC HQ and Blogging Center and Lodging for Pumas and Puma Friends (most slept on the floor without a kitchen) $ 11,000.00".
What kind of place cost $11,000, but doesn't have a bed or kitchen?
Why can't she just admit she blew the money on crack and heroin (because only drug addicts spend money like this and have nothing to show for it) and get the help she needs.
cjlatina -- That's what happens when you you rent a storefront brownstone behind a bail-bond agency.
The damn shame is it doesn't look like the documentary is going to be finished in time to affect the outcome of last month's election. ;->
Actually, when you think about how much the PUMAs actually accomplished, that was $78,000 that could have been more productively spent on a solid gold bowling ball.
Over at The Confluence they have a post up about the Blagojevich scandal or in their minds the Obama scandal. Look at the title http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2008/12/10/blago-and-president-elect/ .
Howdy, folks.
I've questioned these people from the beginning. In all honestly, while I am attracted to the underlying constitutional issue--I'm a nerd--and certainly in the media bias aspect of this (if it weren't, Obama, it would have been covered differently), I probably wouldn't have touched this with a ten-foot-pole had the original Berg suit not fallen into my lap on August 21.
Because it did, I've felt kind of obligated to see it through to its natural end. Throughout, I've TRIED to be as disconnected as possible, and I think you'll see that, when I do inject my opinion into it, it generally arises from a skeptical eye to those involved.
I am, first and foremost, a conservative. I intended to put together a conservative Web blog, not a convention-slash-meeting-hall for the tin-foil hat brigade. If I am a "troofer" about anything, the truth is that I cannot wait for this to die down on its own. Most likely, after Berg's suit--the only one I've really covered in any detail--is denied cert at the Supreme Court, any updates will be fewer and further in between.
Regardless, I expect this to bite me in the posterior a few years down the road in one form or another. I just hope that, when I try to explain my disconnect and purely constitutional motives, someone out there will listen.
Take care,
Jeff Schreiber
America's Right.
As an aside ... holy crap -- Am I on a left-leaning Web site? Ohmigod, I need a shower now.
(Just kidding.)
Because I essentially broke this intensely anti-Obama story--the Berg suit--people assume that I'm somehow radically anti-Obama. I'm not. The guy has made some pretty good choices so far in his unofficial office of the president-elect, and I hope to see more of that pragmatism in the future.
Listen, come January 20th, despite what most of these eligibility-concerned folks say, Barack Obama will be my president. I'd like for this country to do well, and for the country to do well, he needs to do well. So, I'll praise him when he does right--I've already admitted to really liking his stance on parental responsibility--and I'll criticize when he does wrong.
I may be a conservative, but I'm an American first, and more than willing to take an ego shot, come out and say that I was wrong.
Now where's that shower?
Jeff
Jeff Schreiber - Hey, if I can post on your site, you're welcome to post here. Fair's fair you know :-)
Seriously though, Jeff has done a good job at reporting on Berg and the like, and maintaining a very healthy sense of balance on it. We may not see eye-to-eye on much, (okay, we're both gun owners and devoted to our families). And in reporting on his postings, I've tried to make it clear that he's really done a good job and deserves a lot of respect for it - even if you DON'T agree with him politically.
And I think I can speak not just for myself, but my fellow "Yes To Democracy" writers in wishing him the best with with semester's finals, (there's a couple law students here too, not just legal geeks like me :-)
So, go get your shower - and you're welcome back.
Shower?
Are you kidding?
Not even Billy Mays has come up with a miracle product to get that stuff off. All you can do is wait for it to wear off.
So you might want to refrain from socializing with fellow conservatives for a few weeks. Unless they've got a really nasty head cold. Then you should be ok. ;)
Seriously though, your posts seem almost apologetic, or at the very least that you feel you have to justify yourself somehow.
However I have to say that I don't believe anyone, including any of the the "professionals," can lay claim to having provided any more thorough, accurate, and fair reporting and analysis of this whole mess than you have.
se (a/k/a Koyaan)
@Jeff Schreiber - Phew~ *smoking cig* I leave the money on the table for you. ;)
Thanks for stopping by. HEHEHEHEH
Jeff Scheriber,
You're welcome, not because our views coincidently match in this case, but because I respect intellectual and moral integrity in general.
As much as I generally detest political travesty, radicalism and idiocy; you might find out that criticism on this site is largely aimed against supposed Democrats - PUMA “movement” – which represent all of that.
Inanity of current CB / NBC lawsuits – that Pumas support more zealously than any straight Republican site – makes Obama appear like a victim of irrational hate. No wonder that reasonable Republicans are repulsed by that flood of idiocy as well.
I need to take a shower as well, I feel strangely hot and bothered by now. WOW!
Jeff-keep up the good work.
not a fan-I do think it might be fun to call the FEC to insist on an investigation, but am not certain it would get much notice. And I doubt we'll ever see a quarterly filing out of Darragh.
Nice to see Jeff here. I've been following Berg's case pretty much from the outset, and I know that Jeff took up the issue out of an earnest commitment to the law and a desire to document a dramatic Constitutional challenge that had the potential to alter the course of a national election. Whether one believed Berg's own "landmark" and "blockbuster" hype or just perceived it as a unique opportunity to observe the mechanics of American jurisprudence in action, it was compelling stuff.
Jeff, like many, was expecting a living lesson in civics. That it turned out to be an introduction to the venerable tradition of American Hucksterism and Bombastic Grandstanding (which is to say, that Dark Twin of "civics" against which the Constitution was erected as a first-line firewall) is no reflection on him.
Jeff, I salute you for your courage in stopping by to introduce yourself. Here at YTD, all we want is your guns, your money, two years of compulsory service to the State and clear rights to bivouac UN troops in your home. Otherwise, I believe you'll find that we have much more in common than you think. Come for the latte and Shiraz, stay for the global government and sensitivity training!
One other FYI on PUMA...they are also a 527 org, and I don't see any filings other than the initial disclosure.
Great fun -- some of our favorite name-brand PUMAs are leaving HOT PROSECUTION TIPS and URGENT FYIs at the parody "Patrick Fitzgerald" blog. http://patrickjfitzgerald.blogspot.com/
Sometimes, I forget just how stupid they are -- even more so collectively than individually.
LOL, had no idea the Fitzgerald blog was still going. I've often wondered if the M&N folks were behind the Fitz site.
FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS!!
(The guns, that is ... I have no money!)
Jeff - that's okay, StrangeAppar8us would have to pry mine loose as well....
You might be surprised how many moderates and "liberals" are gun owners. :-)
