Flogging the dead horse - Cult of the COLB

13 August - The Honolulu Advertiser does an article on the birth certificate claims.

"Health officials contacted the Obama campaign a few months ago in response to the persistent inquiries "to see if they could try and resolve the issue with the people who were asking questions," she said.

"They responded and apparently it isn't good enough that he posted his birth certificate," (Health Department spokeswoman Janice Okubo) said. "They say they want it because they claim he is not a citizen of the United States. It's pretty ridiculous."

14 August - "DrKate", (where is that "Canada Theory" anyway??) over at the formerly sane "NoQuarter" reports on attempts to use the questionable "evidence" over at "TexasDarlin" to challenge state-by-state Sen. Obama's eligibility due to "certain 'technical' matters related to his legal name, birth certificate, and multiple citizenship". The funny thing? She includes a sample letter as a template, along with "information" about the so-called "technical matters". Including the now-refuted data by "TechDude" about Maya Soetoro's name being on the COLB. I guess "DrKate" didn't get that memo from "TexasDarlin"....

15 August - Also at the formerly sane "NoQuarter", Matthew Weaver is treating the AP picture as it were some stunning new revelation.

15 August - The immates at "TexasDarlin" are helping to pimp the "Muslim slur" still, all the while claiming "there's nothing wrong with it. What caught my attention were these two comments:

"shaheed2007 // August 14, 2008 at 12:58 am
You all need to acquaint yourselves with this term: “taqiyah”, and the meanings and implications, as to why Senator Obama has been denying his Muslim faith.

I’ve been studying Islam for over 30 years, and I KNEW that Senator Obama has been lying about his Muslim “past”; since the first time I saw him on TV!!"

Dekan askls:

The question is, what exactly makes a person Islamic?

Wrong question. The question is, what exactly makes a person a Muslim? The answer: having a father who is Muslim. That’s all that is necessary in the Muslim World.

Has anyone heard Obama actually REJECT ISLAM in favor of Christianity? Of course not, because he is asying that he was never a Muslim.

This is the Islamic principle of Taqiyya, or pretending to be a Christian in order to hide the fact that you’re a a Muslim.

I’ve never heard him say that has has rejected Islam, in which case, he is still a Muslim, and not an apostate of Islam.

Am I correct, Judah?"

So Polarik is now a theology scholar as well as a computer forenics expert??

I'm not going to pretend I'm a religous scholar, (though I do dabble in the subject), but I lived in the Middle East for a year and have a fair knowledge of some aspects of Islam. The concept of Taquyah is a Shia dispensation allowing believers to hide their faith while under threat, persecution or compulsion, and can ONLY be used when the person is wrongly persecuted. The Sunni believe it to be an act of hypocrisy because they believe it shows the person to be fearful of humans when they should be fearful of God.

If "shaheed2007" had REALLY been studying Islam for "over 30 years", they would have known this difference.

The majority of Kenyan Muslims are Sunni. Including Sen. Obama's father and his family there.
The majority of Indonesian Muslims are Sunni.

So they're trying to claim that Sen. Obama is a stealth Muslim using "Taqiyya" to conceal the fact. First off, the Islamic influences in his life have all been Sunni, not Shia, and second off "Taqiyya" is only to be used when one's life is threatened, NOT for personal gain.

15 August - PUMA Joesph Cannon comments on the school record photo that "TexasDarlin" is going nuts over to prove Sen. Obama "lied" about being a Muslim. His response? "officials of the school say that the nationality and religion was made to match that of the stepfather as a matter of "routine." To be frank, I don't see this "revelation" as a big deal."

15 August - The comments section over at "TexasDarlin" indulge in some wild-assed theories about Hawaii - including the claim that Sen. Obama is a *Hawaiian* Citizen due to the illegal overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii.

"Doris T. // August 15, 2008 at 6:06 pm

By way of the website Hawaii Reporter, I found out that there are two kingdoms in Hawaii — The Nation Kingdom of Hawaii and the United States. As of 2002, the Nation Kingdom has filed a formal complaint with the United Nations stating that the U.S. is occupying Hawaii illegally since 1898 and has taken all their native citizens to be citizens of the U.S., I thought what the heck is going on here.

Is sounds to me like they want the U.S. out of their nation.

The Hawaii Reporter has also stated that the laws of The Nation Kingdom take precedence over any U.S. laws.

So, since the supposed illegal occupation of the U.S. on Hawaii soil has not been settled, why the heck is Obama being considered for presidency since he is a citizen of The Nation Kingdom of Hawaii first and foremost.

Maybe the Democratic Party thinks it would be in the U.S. best interest to have a Hawaiian native as our presidency to put the complaint to rest.

I don’t know the answer to the above, but I would question whether The Nation Kingdom of Hawaii would have any claims if Obama were elected the president."

"Dean // August 15, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Doris T, that is great–your information about the Nation Kingdom of Hawaii. I was stationed there 2 years in the Army and it really seemed like a foreign country to me.

I have an idea. Maybe it could be brought up at the Democratic Convention?

Hillary should suggest that we will give Hawaii its independance as a Nation Kingdom for allowing Obama to be its new king! He can withdraw from the Presidential race and be the king of the Nation Kingdom of Hawaii! How’s that sound?

For me, personaly, after living there two years, the underlying reality is Hawaii is a foreign country pretending to be a state–just like Obama, pretending to be something he’s not.

I know that sounds harsh, but dang! Go to Hawaii and live there for awhile, not just as a tourist. It is a US occupied country–a huge portion of the land is military owned. The rest of the place, outside the tourist resorts, is definitely Third World. It’s nice. It’s lovely. But you have to speak Pidgin to get by.

This is so everlivingly weird! Little did the US Congress know back in ‘59 that they would be causing such a whacko situation this many years hence by making Hawaii a pretend state."

(Side note - I grew up in Hawaii when my dad was stationed there for five years. "Dean" slaps the face of every citizen in Hawaii when he says stuff like this. Hawaii may be one of the most multi-cultural states, but it's not "third-world", it's not "pretend", and you don't need "pidgin" to get by. And if he has ANY doubts about Hawaii being part of the United States, go out to Pearl Harbor. There's over a 1000 sailors entombed in the USS Arizona that would disagree with him. I don't condone the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy, but it doesn't change the fact that Hawaii is a state, not a different country like "Dean" seems to think. Dean's comment is, quite bluntly, racist as hell.)

16 August - BEEEP goes the bus as Larry Johnson throws "TexasDarlin" under the bus, removing her blog from his links, stating "I had it removed because of a personality clash. I wish her well but don’t need the additional baggage she brings. I don’t have time for drama queens but I do respect her work. I find her too high maintenance."

Wow. Doesn't that sound a tad bit.......sexist??

16 August - "Judah Benjamin" brings up a old claim - that Sen. Obama violated the Logan Act when he went to Kenya in 2006 and on his recent trip to the Middle East and Europe. Problem is, traditionally members of the House and Senate are usually exempt from the Logan Act because their office means they are acting within the requirements of the Logan Act. Ironically, "Judah Benjamin" actually quotes a portion of the Wikipedia entry showing just that:

“Nothing in Section 953, however, would appear to restrict members of the Congress from engaging in discussions with foreign officials in pursuance of their legislative duties under the Constitution. In the case of Senators McGovern and Sparkman the executive branch, although it did not in any way encourage the Senators to go to Cuba, was fully informed of the nature and purpose of their visit, and had validated their passports for travel to that country. Senator McGovern’s report of his discussions with Cuban officials states: “I made it clear that I had no authority to negotiate on behalf of the United States — that I had come to listen and learn….” (Cuban Realities: May 1975, 94th Cong., 1st Sess., August 1975). Senator Sparkman’s contacts with Cuban officials were conducted on a similar basis. The specific issues raised by the Senators would, in any event, appear to fall within the second paragraph of Section 953. Accordingly, the Department does not consider the activities of Senators Sparkman and McGovern to be inconsistent with the stipulations of Section 953.”

Thanks Patrick! I always enjoy your roundups.

Man I need a shower after the No.25 visit.

It is pretty big news TexasDarlin has been jettisoned and replaced.

I guess her cover really was blown.

Bud White is now guest bloggin at TD so I wonder if there has been a huge split.

I did note the hate stream slowed considerable last night to only a couple of articles. Maybe there was a big admin cage match we couldn't see going on.

Anybody who associates with puma should explain why they associate with people who make statements like this. This is unbelievable and completely unapologetic. What a nut, how can someone who knows the history of this country even say think like this and nobody put him in his place. This guy wanna divide the country for hillary to be the nominee, this is really sick.

It doesn't matter to the election if Hawaii is considered to be a part of the U.S. or a separate country in the eyes of people everywhere, but what U.S. law says it is at the moment.

I don't agree that it was necessarily being sexist for Larry to state the obvious and call Texasdarlin a drama queen. I called him and Techdude that myself about a week ago without any consideration of their gender. Those two sound very similar, but there's also another prolific writer on Hillary's side who also sounds like Techdude. They seem to be copying each others catch phrases.

I wouldn't mind betting that Larry has dumped Texasdarlin before she starts shooting her mouth off and exposes his involvement in the Techdude Affair.

Ray

This is so crazy I dont even know what to say. I'm curious to see what will happen after the convention... and beyond.

I think much of this will fall soon. There are signs of cracks in the smear coalition. At mpandgs.blogspot.com there is interesting information about Cristi Adkins et al.

It would be neat if we could spot Techdude's internet
identity (not his private one) by analysis of text.

I was just looking at one of his "reports" and noticed
that over 25% of the words he used were:
------
THE
OF
TO
AND
A
THAT
IT
I
------

It only takes a few minutes to do a word count (with
percentages) for every word in a batch of messages,
so if two posters' text is compared and the same words
occur, or don't occur, with similar frequency, it's possible
to rule posters "in or out" with reasonable confidence.

A good number of words to start with would be 600, but
a lot more is better.
